Location of the month: Pendennis Point
Jutting out into the Fal estuary is Pendennis point, a 2.5-mile circular headland boasting fantastic panoramic views of Falmouth harbour and the Cornish coast. It is hard to overstate the land and seascapes that this wooded peninsula offers; almost 360 views of the Fal River; to the east lies St Anthony Lighthouse, St Mawes and its fortress; to the south, the Lizard and the treacherous Manacle Rocks, the Helford River; and westward across to Falmouth’s beaches.
Pendennis Point is one of the most easily accessible places in Cornwall, connected to Falmouth Town centre by road and with a free car park situated on the headland, it can easily accommodate small to medium-size crews and is particularly well suited for capturing general views or drone filming.
At the centre of the headland is the famous, English Heritage-owned Pendennis Castle, Henry VIII’s Tudor fortress, with which the Screen Cornwall team can support in navigating the boundaries and permissions of filming. Similarly, we’d love to hear from you as well if you think Pendennis Point could be a good fit for your production.
