Location of the month: Trebah Gardens
Created in the 1820s, peering down to the Helford River, is the sub-tropical Trebah Garden, the estate includes not only the gardens but a Georgian manor house and a private, secluded beach. There are 4 miles of footpaths within the valley garden, with canopies bursting with exotic flowers and vibrant tunnels of colour, showing off an array of 100-year-old rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias.
The garden has something to offer all year round, from the deep greens of the giant gunnera in summer, soft blues and whites of the hydrangea in autumn and the spectacular champion trees, which dominate the landscape in winter.
The team at Trebah are adept at welcoming production, with an abundance of films and documentaries already under their belt, most notably, the 2020 remake of The Secret Garden.
Trebah is situated in Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth, which has excellent transport links and an abundance of local crew thanks to the School of Film and Television at Falmouth University.
