New Creatives is an exciting talent development scheme that offers opportunities for emerging artists to create new work in film, audio or interactive media, designed for BBC platforms. 

Miles Sloman's short film ANORAKS commissioned in Round 2, featuring the disastrous journey of two siblings, who venture on a pilgrimage to a re-enactment near King Arthur’s birthplace, Tintagel.

WHO CAN APPLY?
We’re looking for South West-based creatives between the ages of 16-30 who want to develop their original idea into a professional short film, interactive work for BBC Platforms or an audio programme. New Creatives can come from any arts background, you don’t need experience in audio, interactive or film to apply. We positively encourage applications from all backgrounds, identities, abilities and cultures. 

WHAT TYPE OF IDEAS?
We want to see proposals for fresh, innovative short films and audio that reflect in some way on the experience of living in modern Britain. The ideas can be serious, comedic, absurd, challenging, provocative or abstract. We’re looking for you to push the boundaries on what constitutes art, make people think, and encourage new ways of understanding the world and ourselves. 

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
If shortlisted, you will receive online training and professional development from practitioners in your field. The sessions will cover ideas, scripting, training in broadcast audio/film production, and audience development. As you progress, you will develop your idea further with editorial guidance in one-on-one sessions. 

COMMISSIONS
If your developed idea is selected each commissioned New Creative will receive a support package, these are variable depending on the format, scale and ambition of the work. You’ll be assigned with a professional Mentor who will help you to produce a broadcast quality work ready for BBC Platforms. 

You will have 3 months in production, including post-production and quality checks.
