Graduate Shorts Commission 2022

Screen Cornwall are pleased to work closely with Falmouth University’s School of Film & Television to help students transition into working life and find opportunities to develop their skills in industry through their Sound/Image Cinema Lab. This includes our annual open call for graduate and alumni short film funding which is now open.

Deadline for applications: 12 noon on Friday 13th May 2022

We are looking for teams graduating in 2022 and alumni who have projects that offer diverse and bold storytelling, rooted in Cornwall. Projects should be filmed in the region, with the highest standards of COVID safety and the lightest carbon footprint. Previously successful applicants have gone on to create projects that have been co-funded by BFI Network and achieved festival success.

This year there are 4 opportunities for funding:

For all SOFT alumni:
£5,000 funding for a scripted short

For 2022 graduates:
£2,000 scripted narrative film
£2,000 animation project
£2,000 documentary or experimental

You will need to provide the following:

·       Answers to a number of short questions about the project.

·       Script (if narrative) or detailed treatment (doc, animation, experimental).

·       Details of your team, including any Falmouth University alumni involved. At a minimum, you need to identify a writer, director and producer at the application stage although these roles can be combined if you have a clear justification.

·       Any additional funding you have raised or plan to raise.
