Screen Cornwall highlights from 2020-21
Last week, we looked to the future, launching our Screen Sector vision for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This week, we are reflecting on everything we're proud to have achieved in the past twelve months.
Screen Cornwall's core offer to external production companies, our location & crew finding services, has generated 200 enquiries and we've also secured more than 50 jobs for local talent across craft, technical and creative roles.
Our individual support and informal mentoring has driven talent progression and we've also formed new partnerships to recognise emerging talent - most notably through reinstating an award for Cornish writing talent through the Nick Dark Award and the creation of Cornish Voices, a BBC writers room group providing a training and script development programme to 17 local writers.
We've continued our collaborative work with Cultivator and started working with Immersive Business and Creative England Enterprise programmes funded by ERDF, to ensure that there are supported pathways for freelancers and businesses who are aiming to grow both their creative output and their income - particularly important during Covid-recovery.
As we follow up on the recommendations of the Case for a Cornish Public Service Media, we have established a regular dialogue with both the BBC and DCMS on a proposed transition plan that will see more content reflecting our unique language, culture and heritage be created.
We’re excited to build momentum in the Screen sector, to keep update to date with our latest achievements, join our mailing list.
