Location of the month – Bolitho Estates

Bolitho Estates is a family-owned and privately run estate that has been part of the West Cornwall landscape for three centuries. The estate comprises a wide variety of landscapes, from early agricultural to rough moorland, mines, gardens, and seascapes, with many agricultural, commercial and residential properties too, ranging from traditional granite farmhouses to chocolate box thatched cottages.

Most notably, the estate includes two 19th-century period manors, Trewidden House, located in the heart of the Bolitho Estate, as well as  Trengwainton house which sits a mile north of Trewidden, enjoying fantastic views across Mount's Bay. The houses provide spacious rooms, traditional external buildings and immaculate courtyards which are perfect for productions featuring quintessential Cornish manor houses.

Trewidden and Trengwainton, the latter managed by the National Trust, are both surrounded by extensive gardens, boasting a maze of paths to explore, hidden gems such as a fern tree dell and exotic flora.

The estate's commercial units can also be used for a range of production uses, including offices, workshops and storage with spaces up to 1,000 sq. ft. For larger productions, the estate also has a multitude of agricultural buildings available for studio conversion. The estate is managed by a team of people experienced in film and TV production, welcoming companies such as FFP New Media year after year.

Bolitho Estates is within a few miles of Penzance in a semi-rural setting, providing film crews with the benefit of quiet working surroundings whilst still being in close proximity to local transport links and the A30.
