Screen Cornwall are delighted to invite ideas for a 360 media immersive nature experience that transports audiences into a virtual experience of Cornwall’s ancient temperate rainforest through sound and image. This brief is inspired by Cornwall Council’s Environmental Growth Strategy

We are looking for a filmmaker(s) based in a limited company registered in Cornwall to create a 10 minute (max) 360 media work. There is potential for a 30-40 minute version to be developed subject to securing additional funding.

The partners

Screen Cornwall: We are commissioning this work as part of our ‘Launching a Cornish Public Service Media’ programme funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund.

Cabilla / Thousand Year Trust: An ancient temperate rainforest in the heart of Cornwall that is being protected by limiting visitor numbers, alongside specialist visits to enable wellbeing and support for mental health challenges.

Real Immersive: Supporting the process with expertise in 360 content creation, specialist camera kit and the opportunity to test work and then premiere in the immersive dome at Market Hall, Plymouth.

Falmouth University: Audio Practitioners and Researchers in SoundStudies, Composition and Dark Sound Ecologies who are based in AMATA, Faculty of Screen, Technology and Performance will create an immersive soundscape for the Cabilla film. They will be researching the potential of immersive sound to engage audiences with nature and the environment as well as offering guidance and support to the commissioned film makers on sound in an immersive context.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust: Working with Cabilla, offering guidance on sensitive production, considering wildlife and amplifying reach to CWT audiences.
