Short Film Script Call-Out: BFI Film Academy Short Course in Cornwall
Screen Cornwall is pleased to announce that we've secured funding to run a BFI Film Academy Short Course for twenty 16–19-year-olds this autumn, for the second year.
We're seeking emerging writers aged 16-30 to submit scripts for consideration on the theme of “Speaking my language...”, three of which will be made into short films by the participants. Filming will take place in and around Krowji in Redruth with some constraints as listed in the brief.
Writer Eligibility:
· Cornwall-based
· Aged 16-30
Script Requirements:
Length: 5-8 minutes (max. 6 pages)
Theme: "Speaking my language..." (this is a thematic element, not necessarily the title). We are especially interested to see scripts that explore or make references to Cornish dialect or language.
Formatted in industry standard software – free versions include Celtx and StudioBinder and submitted as a PDF file.
All genres welcome, if achievable within production constraints.
Please download the brief for list of production constraints.
Submission Deadline: Monday 16th September 2024 at 5pm
Application: Please submit your script using this form.
Selection process: The project team running the course will shortlist up to 6 scripts that best meet the criteria for a table read with actors and the Film Academy participants, before confirming which ones will be used for filming.
Fee: £200 (inc. VAT) to be invoiced on signature of the writer’s agreement.
This programme is part of the BFI Film Academy Short Course, South West Consortium. A BFI funded programme led by Watershed in partnership with Somerset Film, City Eye and Screen Cornwall.
