Board Recruitment

Screen Cornwall was set up in 2019 in order to drive growth in employment and economic impact of the screen sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Our initial three-year funding from the Council and LEP, has been superseded with project-based funding that drives forward our key areas of work, however, ongoing core funding is required to secure the foundation of the Film Office and its services.

Operationally, we focus on the following:

1.     Location, crew and production services signposting for incoming and indigenous productions

2.     Creative careers/outreach work to diversify and enlarge the pool of people working in the sector

3.     Creative talent development through 121 support and commissioning

4.     Business support through links with the Cultivator programme and building networks, plus showcasing to the wider world.

5.     Data gathering and advocacy with the wider creative sector in Cornwall and regionally/nationally

We are part of the Creative Kernow group which has a broader governance structure across its four trading companies, to which Screen Cornwall is linked through our company secretary, CK CEO Fiona Wotton, and one other board member. Our Board Directors take the role on a voluntary, unpaid basis and the time commitment is expected to be a half day each quarter. Most meetings are held virtually.

Screen Cornwall is not just committed to inclusive and sustainable practice, we are actively aiming to be industry-leading in this space, through our current B corp pending status.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for 3 new Board Directors, one of which will come from the Creative Kernow board and one of which we hope will be under 30.

People with specific knowledge/experience around the following are especially welcome to apply:

·       games & immersive tech

·       Cornish language, culture & heritage

·       Funding and investment for both screen projects and SMEs

We want our Trustees to represent diverse backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, to promote a breadth of perspective and support debate and different ideas around the table.  We will consider those with no previous Trustee experience, but you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of being a Board and committee member and commit to the meetings schedule.

To reflect our ambition and commitment to be more representative at Board level, we particularly encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people under the age of 30, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.   We welcome applications from individuals who understand or have a passion for culture and creativity but who may work in contrasting sectors.
