FylmK 2025 Commission Announcements!

Announcing the 2026 FylmK commissions—supporting Cornish-language films with UKSPF funding & partners, growing a bold slate of Kernewek shorts.

Following our open call and interview process we are pleased to announce the two FylmK commissions for this year, part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with the Cornish Language Office and in-kind support from the School of Film & TV at Falmouth University.

We are looking forward to working with these exciting teams to continue to add to our growing collection of excellent shorts films in Kernewek!

MORVOREN

Mary and Scott entwine themselves during a rave in Bodmin Moor, but as the sun rises, their fate is not so sweet. A love story of fatal ecstasy twisted in Cornish folklore and female destruction sees a direct return to nature and the animal within.

Production Company: Mei Films

Writer: Isis Hope Lloyd

Isis is a Director/Writer, and Actor represented by Scott Marshall Partners Ltd, with recent music videos for Essence Martins, Emmeline and Your French Girlfriend, and her film VERY, VERY OPEN with House on Fire Productions is currently in the festival circuit. Across the board, her work describes the softness of young love, sexuality and friendship through the female lens, as well as complex or even twisted themes between women.

Director: Katie Burdon

Katie Burdon is a Director, Photographer and Artist from Cornwall, signed to 42 Branded and Probation, with gallery representation in LA with Tappan Collective. A strong focus on the female gaze is maintained throughout her work whether that be through Photography or Film. Katie was shortlisted for a Young Directors Award at Cannes in 2024 for her work. Her passion for storytelling has led her to create MORVOREN, her debut short film.

Producer: Samantha Locock

Samantha is a freelance producer, working across short films, commercials, music videos, and corporate content. Her slate of queer, POC, and female-led short films includes SCRAPS, RICE BALL, DANDIES OF ALBERTOPOLIS, and A WHISPERED HOPE, with several new projects currently in post and prep, including SCOPE, SKIN DEEP, THE BIRTH OF A MALL GOTH, MEAT RAFFLE, and WILLIAM.

LADRON

After a huge heist, Ruan and Dale are lying low in a remote Cornish fishing loft, waiting for Magda’s escape boat. Dale trusts his cunning friend with his life, but Ruan is plotting murder.

Production Company: Schaumburg Films

Writer: Jake J. Mackintosh

Jake is a neurodiverse writer from Falmouth. As an immigrant, he has always told stories about our collective search for belonging, community and the idea of ‘home’. These stories continue to be endlessly inspired by his home in the Celtic nation of Cornwall.

Director: Indra Siera

Indra is an award winning director of Film and HETV, working internationally. According to Walter Iuzzolino (Walter Presents): “His work balances an exquisite eye for composition and style with a depth of feeling which allows actors’ performances to resonate and deliver real depth”.

Producer: Liane Escorza

Liane is a producer who has worked in theatre, film and HETV for more than a decade. Her work focuses on stories about resilience, identity, culture, legacy, new and minority voices, women’s perspectives, and the human condition.
